Residential studio project
Concept statement
A HOLISTIC EXPRESSWAY TO AN EFFICIENT HOUSEHOLD
DEFINED-
Holistic- Looking at all parts as a piece of the whole
Efficient: Working in a well-organized and competent way
A holistic design approach will be used to give consistency through sustainability as well as the physical house spatial planning, and how the end user moves through the space and interacts with family members. The home's interior will accommodate natural wayfinding while the naturistic materials and outdoor views will lead one to feel connected to the outdoors as well.
It was important that the home not only be holistic in itself, with each room anchored as a part of the whole home- but the home also needed to be holistic in its relationship to the entire world. By looking at the home as one component of the whole earth, we translated that language by using only sustainable materials, furniture, fixtures, and equipment to give it an expressway to being efficient.
